Cambodian Tong-Il Moo-do 3 day Workshop

Inside of the Olympic Stadium, we held 3 day workshop with combination of Inaugural Conference of Cambodian Tong-Il Moo-Do Federation on 28-30 March, 2008.

At the Opening Ceremony, Mr. Sam Sokyi, Executive Director of Cambodian Tong-Il Moo-Do Federation (CTIMD) explained the process of establishing the Federation. After greeting remarks by Mrs. Masumi Schmittat, Vice President of CTIMD and Master Don Harbour, Representative of World Tong-Il Moo-Do Federation (WTMF), H.E. Chay Chap, President of CTIMD, Under Secretary of Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports gave the opening speech. He emphasized the importance of physical training and moral education for young people for the development of Cambodia. He mentioned that CTIMD should be the leading group by showing the good example.

Mr. Hajime Saito, Vice President of CTIMD gave 2 lectures of Character Education in the afternoon with the Cambodian translation. The lecture of Significance of Tong-Il Moo-Do gave participants deeper understanding of vision and mission of it.

Master Don Harbour’s Self Defense Technique was to teach from 16:30 to 18:00.As young trainees were so excited to learn new techniques, they asked Master to teach till 19:00. Master Don really enjoyed teaching naпve Cambodian youth.

On the second day, they started morning exercise from 7:00 AM and continued till 8:30AM. Master Peter from Thailand taught how to perform the Eyes of Tiger. He showed wonderful form and procedure of Eyes of Tiger with brotherly heart.

From 9:00 AM, 2 lectures were given by Mrs. Schmittat and other 2 lectures were by Mr. Sam Chay. As most of trainees are high school and University students, they listened well with much concern about Sexual Morality and Marriage preparation.

On the third day, Mr. Sokyi took the initiative for morning exercise. And followed Mr. Saito’s 2 lectures of Conflict Resolution and Foster the Culture of Heart. After lunch, trainees had a writing test of Character Education for 30 minutes. H.E. Sok Seng Yan, the First Vice President of CTIMD, preceded the voting process. All participants agreed to establish CTIMD.

The Closing Ceremony was held att 16:00 with the presence of H.E. Chay Chap and 10 CTIMD Board Committee members and candidates of instructor. Then Master Don mentioned big hope in Cambodian youth. Mr. Saito reported the result of writing test. There were 3 students with perfect score. The average score was also high 46 points among 50. H.E. Sok Seng Yan explained the result of conference. As all participants agreed to establish the Cambodian Tong-Il Moo-Do Federation, it was officially announced.

12 black belt masters from 5 Tekwondo, 3 Karate, 1 Wooshu, 2 Hapkkido and 1 Onwado were appointed as CTIMD instructors. After H.E. Chay Chap’s Closing remarks, MC announced that he will be appointed as Ambassador for Peace at the International Leadership Conference of UPF in Korea in April.

As masters from different martial arts asked Master Don Harbour after the closing ceremony to teach Self-Defense Technique, he willingly took time for them from 17:00 -19:00.
